Rationale:
Our app “Shark Watch” is targeted at local surfers or a tourist touring or planning to tour around Australia. The app is designed to aware the users of sharks at or around their location, or the destination where they wish to surf. There are two fields to our app. One, which allows you to find sharks in your location and has a newsfeed of recent shark activity around you and also a bit of knowledge of what to do to avoid a shark attack in general. The other field focuses on the beaches/surf spots. You have the option to choose from any popular surf spot in Australia or by using GPS to locate the nearest surf spots to you. From here you can check the shark risk of the spot, weather forecast or even browse at an image of the beach. With this app the user will gain knowledge, and will feel more comfortable when entering the ocean and will be able to plan the perfect surf trip from straight from their phone.

invision and sharks spotted Sample
our first attempts at invision to create our shark app
version 1 :http://invis.io/RX2I1WOBD (incomplete)
version 2: http://invis.io/S62JT41W2
We tried experimenting with different lay outs, different styled photographs whether it was a google maps out take or a illustrated vector and the use of different shapes.

App first sample wire frames
Here are a few samples of wire frames we did before going digital just to plan out and see what was working and what wasn't. We decided to flag the shark siren and shark detector and we figured out that realistically it would not work from a phone app. We also took out the shark identifyer screen where you take a photo of the shark and the information, statistics etc pop up which would also be unrealistic.

Shark Tracking examples
Below are some examples of paths traveled by microchipped sharks which displays where they have traveled. We are thinking of including this around an Australian map in our app to reinforce to the users where sharks have been and that they are more common in certain areas, which means if you have a fear of sharks you would want to avoid.

Here are a few samples of fonts we are experimenting with to see which font suits our theme the best:
